Coast Guard Rescues 3 Capsized Off New Jersey Coast

Occupants clung to their disabled vessel until help arrived.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three individuals after their 18-foot vessel capsized off the New Jersey coast. The boat’s operator contacted the Coast Guard’s Delaware Bay sector via radio, seeking assistance due to a disabled vessel and inclement weather conditions. The operator revealed that three people were on board, and the vessel was anchored in Great Bay in Little Egg Harbor Township, which is near the Great Bay Marina. The Coast Guard rerouted a Dolphin helicopter already in the air for routine training.

Simultaneously, a TowBoatUS commercial salvage team, alerted by the distress call, reached the scene where the occupants of the capsized vessel were “clinging to the overturned hull.” Shallow waters and harsh weather conditions prevented direct aid, but Coast Guard officials monitored the situation until the Coast Guard helicopter arrived. A rescue swimmer assisted in hoisting all three individuals to safety.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the rescue operation.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Coast Guard Commandant General Hokanson as he oversees the branch.
  • For Coast Guard personnel as they serve in their roles to protect boaters as well as national security.
